From April 20th to 21st, 2024, the China Carbon Finance Forum, jointly hosted by the China Energy Conservation Association and the China Quality Certification Center, was successfully held in Shanghai. More than 600 people attended the forum, including decision-makers from government departments and related units, experts in the field of carbon neutrality, representatives from universities, research institutions, investment institutions, service organizations related to carbon neutrality, and media representatives. The forum, themed "Turning Green into Gold, Achieving Zero Carbon," saw Jiang Peixue, Chairman of the China Energy Conservation Association, Vice President of Tsinghua University, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Xie Zhaoxu, Director of the China Quality Certification Center, deliver welcome speeches to the attendees as representatives of the organizers. Zhao Penggao, former Deputy Director of the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection of the National Development and Reform Commission, and Jiang Zhaoli, First-Level Inspector of the Department of Climate Change of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, gave opening remarks. The forum highlighted outstanding academic and practical cases in the fields of finance and carbon asset management; comprehensively analyzed the core elements of the carbon finance market, including its covered entities, industries, and product types, as well as the carbon finance system with Chinese characteristics; discussed the challenges and opportunities facing the development and application of various carbon assets and carbon finance products; and jointly explored opportunities for carbon finance to promote green and low-carbon investment and financing. It contributed wisdom to achieving a win-win situation of high-quality economic development and carbon emission reduction, and to truly achieving high-efficiency, low-cost carbon neutrality
